Hardware 101: Rebooting your Warehouse RF Scanners

Your barcode scanners work hard. Very hard. And we want to make sure you’re getting the most out of your scanner to boost results in your warehouse. Today's tip is on the art of the reboot.

If your scan engine stops working, our Hardware experts suggest that instead of immediately calling tech support, just do a quick cold boot. This turns the device completely off and resets the device (similar to a PC) without actually resetting the configurations and applications.

Why does the Cold Boot work?

When your scan engine randomly stops, this quick trick can work to resolve this issue the majority of the time. This is because many times the RF scanners are not shut off properly during the week. Errors can build up in the registry files, however, a quick cold boot will purge the errors.
