ERP: Oracle Cloud
CHALLENGE
County teams recorded transactions manually, relied on different inventory practices across departments, and halted operations for several days to perform stock counts.
RESULTS
With RF-SMART for Oracle SCM Cloud, they mobilized picking, transfer, counting, and delivery workflows. Automated processes helped them complete cycle counts faster, reduce manual entry, and improve equipment management.

RF-SMART for Oracle Cloud SCM
The Challenge
Before moving to Oracle SCM Cloud, county teams recorded inventory activity on spreadsheets and clipboards, then manually entered that information into their legacy ERP. This added a second step to daily work and made it harder to maintain a clear record as supplies moved between warehouses, vehicles, and department facilities. Other challenges included:
- Different practices across departments: Teams relied on separate systems and varying inventory processes, making it difficult to track supplies consistently.
- Limited delivery visibility: Staff could confirm that supplies were loaded onto a truck but could not always track where they went afterward.
- Time-consuming counts: Cycle counts required all facilities to shut down for several days.
The Solution
The county implemented RF-SMART alongside Oracle SCM Cloud, giving staff mobile workflows to record inventory activity as supplies move through warehouses and department facilities:
- Pick and move supplies: Teams use directed picking and material transfers to record inventory moving through warehouses and out to department locations.
- Count inventory: Mobile cycle-count workflows let staff record counts without first capturing them on spreadsheets for later entry.
- Track deliveries: Delivery workflows help staff record where supplies go after they leave a warehouse, including deliveries to fire stations, water facilities, and other county locations.
- Account for equipment: The county also uses Mobile Fixed Assets to help track technology equipment, such as laptops and printers, across its facilities.
The Results
The county is seeing the value of mobile inventory management in both warehouse work and the movement of supplies and equipment across departments:
- Clear delivery records: Staff have a way to follow supplies beyond the truck and document their destination.
- Faster cycle counts: Counts that previously took several days can now be completed in a few hours after facilities close.
- Better equipment accountability: The fixed assets team can better investigate technology equipment that goes missing or comes back damaged and use that information in budgeting discussions.
A Continued Partnership
RF-SMART’s role has extended beyond the initial rollout. Building on a relationship that began during the design phase, the county brings RF-SMART into discussions about new tools to understand how they could work with their Oracle Cloud operations. What began as an implementation partnership has become an ongoing technical collaboration, helping the county government evaluate its options as their needs evolve.
