Corporate Philanthropy at RF-SMART: Living out Our Values

Written by Abby Bennett | December 20, 2022

As RF-SMART closes out another year, we take time to reflect on the ways we have intentionally lived out our mission of transforming customers and changing lives. One of the most significant ways we accomplish this is through our corporate philanthropic efforts

Why is Corporate Philanthropy a Goal at RF-SMART?

Philanthropy has always been a part of the culture at RF-SMART. In the last few years, our corporate philanthropic initiatives have been focused on fighting hunger and poverty. For us, it's about more than just feeling good - it's about making a difference in our communities and in our world. Here are some of the reasons we have a corporate volunteering goal:

  • It's in our mission. You already know we have a mission to change lives, but that mission doesn't just apply to RF-SMART employees, customers and partners. We recognize that we, as a company, have a responsibility to live out our mission for those in our communities as well.
  • It's great team building. Our teams love spending time together. We provide opportunities throughout the year for employees (and their families) to take time out of their workday to serve others.
  • It reminds us that we're a part of something bigger. We serve customers and employ team members all over the world. Having this company-wide goal unites us across departments, cities, and countries to come together for something bigger than ourselves.

In 2022, we volunteered over 1,200 hours with a variety of hunger and poverty relief organizations. Here’s a look at some of the projects and events we have been up to this year:

The US East Team preparing food with a local mobile pantry.

RF-SMART US East Coast Team

Our US East team came together to volunteer in groups (big and small) to provide meals to communities of all ages. In the Jacksonville area, team members tackled local hunger with various Florida non-profits including Feeding Northeast Florida, UCOM Jax, and Hunger Fight. Team members also worked with the Feeding Northeast Florida mobile food pantry to offer relief to communities impacted by Hurricane Ian. Additionally, many employees spent time serving the local homeless community, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, Sulzbacher Center, Trinity Rescue Mission, and City Rescue Mission.

RF-SMART Team in the Rockies

Our US West team served with a variety of organizations this year as well. To continue our efforts to eliminate hunger, RF-SMART West team members volunteered with the local Habitat for Humanity as well as Food Bank of the Rockies. The team also worked with the Backpack Society to provide meals to Colorado students affected by food insecurity.

The giving doesn’t end there. Our distributed employees also volunteered with their families at hunger organizations local to their area. A group of our employees in the Kansas City area volunteered together regularly at Harvesters Community Food Network. Similarly, both our EMEA and UK team members spent time collecting food for CAP Care’s hunger relief initiatives.

At RF-SMART, we don’t just aim to give our time to these organizations, but we are intentional with our monetary giving as well. With the RF-SMART dollar-for-dollar match program, we were able to fundraise over $100,000 dollars this year that went directly into the hands of hunger and poverty relief organizations.

As the year comes to a close, we continued the RF-SMART tradition by participating in the Salvation Army Angel Tree program. This initiative is designed to help thousands of underprivileged children across the country experience the joy of opening gifts on Christmas day. This year, RF-SMART US East team members provided toys and clothes for 100 boys and girls.. Similarly, our US West team sponsored ten children through A Precious Child - an organization that provides Colorado children with opportunities and resources to find success.

As we approach 2023, we are excited to raise our philanthropic goals to have an even greater impact in our communities.
